This qualification is intended for people who are currently teaching in a Christian school but who do not have any teacher training qualification (e.g., provincial certificate, ACSI Teaching Certificate, etc.) and who do not qualify to apply for the ACSI Teaching Certificate (which is managed out of the ACSI Colorado office).  If you have an undergraduate degree, you might qualify to enter the ACSI Teacher Certification programme.

The TPQ programme will require that the teacher complete a specified programme of 30 Continuing Education Units (CEU) within a five year period (see checklist). Some credit may be granted toward the TP{Q based on the transcripts submitted with the application.

APPLICATION

Teachers may apply immediately for the Temporary Endorsed Teaching Practitioner Qualification (TETPQ) by completing and submitting the application form with the registration cheque to the ACSI Eastern Canada office:

Upon receipt of the application and registration fee, the TETPQ will be issued and emailed to the applicant.

ANNUAL RENEWAL

The TETPQ can be renewed annually for up to five years at no charge as long as the candidate has completed at least one CEU in the previous year.*

FAILURE TO COMPLETE REQUIREMENTS

If the teacher does not complete 30 CEUs within the five year time frame he/she must start the process over again with no CEUs will be carried forward from the previous five years.*

MAINTENANCE OF TPQ

Teachers who receive their TPQ (upon the successful completion of the 30 CEUs) will be required to keep it current by taking a minimum of one CEU (approved by the ACSI office) every two years. Copies of the post-TPQ certificates are to be mailed to the ACSI office with a $10 fee. A TPQ Maintenance Certificate will then be mailed to the teacher to indicate that the TPQ is current.
